Houston Astros lose their first player to MLB free agency for the 2024 season

Héctor Neris, a Dominican baseball player, is now a free agent in Major League Baseball.

He chose not to renew his contract with the Houston Astros.

He had the option to play for the 2024 season with the Astros for $8.5 million, but he declined.

Instead, Neris decided to leave and received a million dollars as part of his exit deal.

In the last season, he had an excellent record: 6 wins, 3 losses, and a low 1.71 ERA.

He also had 77 strikeouts, 31 walks, and a 1.05 WHIP in 68.1 innings.

Now, Neris is looking for a multi-year contract, and his market value is around $7.6 million.

Many teams are interested in having him because of his valuable skills.

Neris was part of the Astros team that won the 2022 World Series.

He has more than a decade of experience in MLB, having played for both the Philadelphia Phillies and the Houston Astros.
